Hoste Hainse Bal Bikash Kendra, Jhapa
Hoste Hainse, in collaboration with Child Development Center, started pre-school classes in Charpane, Jhapa since the year 2005. The main idea behind this project was to make the local people conscious about the importance of education for their children.
Situated in eastern part of the country, Jhapa is considered to be one of the educated districts in Nepal. However, people who come from ethnic minority groups such as Satar, living in Charpane located 1.2 kilometer south from main Mahendra Highway, are far from enjoying even basic needs such as proper food and shelter let alone access to education. The only means for generating some income for their livelihood is either fishing in local river or working in the farm of other people. So the target group of Hoste Hainse Bal Bikash Kendra's pre-school classes is the children from the ethnic group.
There are two pre-classes running upon completion of which, the children will be able to read and write. Each year, 5 outstanding students are being sent to local boarding school. Currently, 32 students are enrolled in boarding school and 55 children in Bal Bikash Kendra are being education for free. Until now, 130 children have already passed Pre School from the center.
The main supporters of the projects areNepalhife Badherfeld e.v. (Germany) and Chance for Life e.v. (Germany). Besides that, there are individuals like Ms. Srijana Mukhiya and Mr. Sajin Shrestha (currently in the U.S) who are sponsoring three girls, studying in local private school after they finished their pre-schooling from Bal Bikash Kendra.
