Hoste Hainse Bal Bikash Kendra, Jhapa

HH started Pre school class in Charpane Jhapa in collaboration with Child Development Center with a view to make local people aware about the importance of education for their children in the year 2005/06. Jhapa is in Eastern part of Nepal and Charpane is about 1.2 kilometer south from main Mahendra Highway. Actually Jhapa is one of the educated Districts of Nepal but there are few ethnic groups like Satar who are very underprivileged and do not have proper shelter and even one time food. Fishing in local river and work in others farm is only the income source for their livelihood. So the target group of Hoste Haisne pre school class is children of Satar Ethnic group.

There are two pre-class running and after completing two classes the children will be able to read and write. Every year 5 outstanding students are being sent to local boarding school. Currently 32 students are studying in boarding school and 55 children in Bal Bikash Kendra are getting free education. 75 children have already passed Pre School from the center.

The main supporter of the project is Kathmandu Trading Company, U.S.A. and Nepalhife Badherfeld e.v. (Germany) and Chance for Life e.v. (Germany) are the partial supporter of this project.

This project has become able to attract Nepalese individual sponsors. Three girls who are studying in local boarding school after completing Pre School in Bal Bikash have got support from Ms. Srijana Mukhiya and Mr. Sajin Shrestha who are in US at the moment.
